RAM is pleased to present the exhibition Nearby Nature, featuring renowned Finnish wood artist and designer Ilona Rista (b. 1959). The exhibition presents a striking series ofwood reliefs that celebrate the quiet beauty and intricate rhythms of Scandinavian nature.

Ilona Rista, known for her sophisticated and poetic interpretations of natural landscapes, brings together a body of work that draws directly from Finland’s forests, lakes, and light. Each wood relief captures the textures, forms, and spirit of the Nordic environment, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibility.

Nearby Nature invites visitors to reconnect with the natural world through tactile surfacesand flowing organic forms, carved with precision and deep reverence for the material.

Rista has worked extensively with public comissions and has exhibited widely in Finland and internationally, including in venues such as Design Museum Helsinki, Museo de arte contemporaneo, Madrid, Erarta Museum, St. Petersburg, and Edegem Cultural Center, Brussels.
